The Graduate Student Training Program at Jefferson Center
The Graduate Student Training Program (GSTP) at Jefferson Center offers unpaid internships and field placements to graduate students in counseling, social work, or psychology masters and doctoral academic programs. We are unable to offer bachelor internships at this time.
About Our Program
GSTP offers clinical training opportunities that traditional start in the Fall, with some placements being available in January based on availability. Clinical training placements are offered in various departments at Jefferson Center with at least one position being offered on most of our clinical teams. We require a commitment of at least two semesters (30 weeks), with a minimum of 15-20 hours per week. Typical clinical placements will last between 9 months to 1 year, and most will include a weekly workload averaging 20 hours. Some teams are 100% in person and some teams are hybrid. Team descriptions, training opportunities, work schedules (hybrid/in-person), and supervisor licensure can be found here.
When applying, each applicant will be asked to rank the top three departments for which they would like to be considered. Applications and resumes will then be distributed to the appropriate supervisors, who will conduct the phone screening, interview, and selection process. All applicants will be notified of the status of their application whether they are selected for placement or not.
Final appointment of applicants to the internship at Jefferson Center is contingent on applicants passing a criminal background check. A pre-employment background check is completed on all applicants that are offered an internship. Felony assault convictions will be considered a failed background check. Federal misdemeanors and misdemeanors are handled on a case-by-case basis.
A current flu vaccination is required as per Colorado Department of Health mandate.
If not a US Citizen, you will be required to provide documentation to verify eligibility upon an offer of internship and before employment.
Jefferson Center for Mental Health is committed to a safe, healthy, and productive work environment for all employees free from the effects of substance abuse. Abuse of alcohol, drugs, and controlled substances impairs employee judgment, resulting in increased safety risks, injuries, and faulty decision-making. Jefferson Center for Mental Health follows Federal Law regarding cannabis and other drugs. We do not do a pre-employment drug test, but all employees may be asked to submit a random urine drug screen should there be indications that substances may be affecting job performance.
